Documentary Music Sales will Support Enterprise

Soundtrack Features Bruce Springsteen, Dave Matthews Band, Tim McGraw

Enterprise and United Way will share proceeds from the soundtrack to the HBO Documentary By the People: The Election of Barack Obama. Both nonprofits will be using the funds to continue community-growth efforts in the Gulf Coast.

The documentary highlights footage of Obama’s history-making journey to the White House, and the soundtrack was inspired by the President’s call for “change.”

Multi-platinum performers like Jon Bon Jovi, Sheryl Crow and the Dixie Chicks are included on the 14-song compilation. The album also boasts collaborations between musicians like John Mayer and Ben Harper. Especially poignant is Bruce Springsteen’s version of “This Land Is Your Land.” The original was written by folk icon Woody Guthrie, the legendary musician/activist who pioneered the concept of music as a social force for change.

The now critically acclaimed documentary, which aired last November, was produced in part by Edward Norton's company Class 5 Films. Norton is an Enterprise Trustee.

Enterprise has already invested more than $110 million in the Gulf Coast region’s efforts to rebuild since the devastating 2005 hurricanes. Sales from this soundtrack will supplement the creation of 10,000 green, affordable homes for families with low incomes.
