Enterprise knows the significant role that high quality resident services can play in helping to achieve the goals of affordable housing. Toward this end, Enterprise is a key player in various resident services initiatives across the San Francisco Bay Area.

HOPE SF Resident Services Program
Through the HOPE SF program, San Francisco is working to transform existing public housing communities by creating vibrant mixed-income neighborhoods. The many developers and partners involved in the process understand the importance of providing comprehensive social services for the community.

Enterprise engages consultants and organizes forums to share knowledge and expertise on resident services and community building. Enterprise provides assistance in many areas, including:

  • Preparing a needs assessment tool
  • Providing information on best practices for resident services planning, tenant engagement and community outreach
  • Crafting an approach to transitioning public housing resident associations to neighborhood associations comprised of a diverse range of stakeholders
  • Assisting the San Francisco Housing Authority in developing its HOPE SF Leadership Academy, a leadership development and knowledge-sharing program for community members at HOPE SF sites

Bay Area Resident Services Roundtable
The Bay Area Resident Services Roundtable is a peer networking group whose members are the Resident Services Directors of affordable housing developers throughout the Bay Area. The Roundtable began convening in Fall 2007, and is driven by its members who determine the focus areas for each meeting. Enterprise supports this important initiative in various ways:

  • Facilitation: Enterprise assists the Roundtable in coordinating its bimonthly meetings, setting up agendas, inviting speakers and providing lunch.
  • Policy: Enterprise and the Roundtable members have engaged with staff from the Federal Home Loan Bank's Affordable Housing Program and the California Tax Credit Allocation Committee to discuss how these two critical capital funding programs can better address the resident services need in affordable housing.
  • Training: Enterprise organized a training for Roundtable members and others on the coordination between resident services and property management (PDF, 620KB) in Summer 2008, and Enterprise is delivering another training on resident services outcome measurement in Winter 2009.
